Fayette County High School, the oldest high school in the Fayette County public school system, recently received a much-needed cafeteria renovation. After years of using the original serving line, the school needed an upgrade to modernize their foodservice experience for students. With the guidance of school nutrition director, Kokeeta Wilder, the district chose LTI to lead the transformation.
Project scope
The renovation featured the installation of three new serving lines done with LTI serving counters and equipment, a customized graphic package and three open-air beverage units. To ensure a visually appealing and functional design, Fayette County High School also leveraged LTI’s VisionDesign services led by Willis Smith. Kokeeta Wilder was delighted with the design process, noting the LTI team was patient, accommodating and consistently attentive to the school’s needs.
Why LTI?
According to Wilder, LTI was chosen for this project for several reasons:
- Supportive sales representation: LTI provided exceptional support throughout the decision-making and installation process
- Value received for the price: LTI offered a competitive price point, which was important for the school district
- Quality and appeal: LTI’s products stood out for their visual appeal and high-quality build
Positive outcomes: increased meal participation
The impact of LTI’s equipment on Fayette County High School’s foodservice operations was immediate. Most notably, the school noticed increased meal participation. Since the remodel, daily meal participation rose significantly, from 650 to 800 students. This increase highlights the appeal of the new cafeteria design and equipment, which made the dining experience more attractive to students.
With the addition of LTI’s two-tier cold storage shelves, the cafeteria is now able to aesthetically display food items, enhancing its appeal to students overall. Moreover, LTI’s QuickSwitch technology allows staff to easily switch between hot and cold service, which adds flexibility to adjust the serving line based on the school’s evolving menu and service needs.
Feedback from students
The response from students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive. Students enthusiastically commented, saying “Wow, very impressive.” Such reactions emphasize the transformative impact of the cafeteria remodel on the school community.
A lasting partnership
With this successful project complete, Fayette County Public Schools plans to continue partnering with LTI on additional upgrades. Wilder enthusiastically recommends LTI products, highlighting the quality, performance and attentive service that made this renovation a success. Now, with increased participation and a visually striking cafeteria, Fayette County Public Schools has set a new standard in dining for their students, and they look forward to further enhancing their facilities in the future.
